Super Hot Stamper

Schubert / The Trout Quintet / Curzon / Vienna Octet

  (Item #: schubtrout_curzon_2006)

Our Price: $199.99

  • With two seriously good Double Plus (A++) sides or BETTER, this was one of the best copies we played - reasonably quiet vinyl too
  • The 1958 master tape has been transferred brilliantly using "modern" cutting equipment (from 1968, not the low-rez junk they're forced to make do with these days), giving you, the listener, sound and surfaces that are hard to fault
  • The cello does not have that "fat" sound some audiophiles seem to like - Decca knew more about recording chamber music in 1958 than practically all the audiophile labels that would come along later, the ones that managed to make a mess of the very idea of audiophile quality sound (you know who I mean)

Our Price: $199.99

  • Wow - Shootout Winning Triple Plus (A+++) sound from start to finish - fairly quiet vinyl too

  • Featuring classics such as I Put a Spell on You, the extended-length jam Susie Q (8:37, perfect for Underground Radio), The Working Man, Porterville and more
  • 4 stars: "CCR's self-titled debut album was gloriously out-of-step with the times, teeming with John Fogerty's Americana fascinations. ... the band's sound is vibrant, with gutsy arrangements that borrow equally from Sun, Stax, and the swamp."

  • This is the first Columbia Charlie Byrd shootout we've ever done - we dropped the needle on a copy a while back and were shocked at the sound we were hearing
  • More importantly, the music on this enchanting jazz/pop guitar album is every bit as good as the sound quality (and that is rarely the case with these kinds of records - we should know, we've played scores of them)

Albert King
Live Wire - Blues Power

  (Item #: king_livew_2005)

Our Price: $449.99

  • An insanely good copy of this Must Own Live Blues album, with Shootout Winning Triple Plus (A++) sound throughout
  • Accept no substitutes - no reissue of the album can ever give you the energy, size and you-are-there presence that's on this disc
  • Finding originals with top quality sound and surfaces this quiet is quite a feat, but here one is - it plays Mint Minus to Mint Minus Minus
  • "Live Wire/Blues Power is one of Albert King's definitive albums. Recorded live at the Fillmore Auditorium in 1968, the guitarist is at the top of his form throughout the record — his solos are intense and piercing... he makes Herbie Hancock's "Watermelon Man" dirty and funky and wrings out all the emotion from "Blues at Sunrise.""

  (Item #: ironbinaga_2002_4)

Our Price: $149.99

  • With a nearly Triple Plus (A++ to A+++) side one and a seriously good Double Plus (A++) side two, this copy of the band's Magnum Opus will be very hard to beat
  • The title track is full-bodied, rich and solid, but the most important quality our Hot Stampers offer is vocals that aren't screechy and distorted the way they are on most pressings
  • As crazy as it may sound, it took us until 2016 to figure out what the right stampers are, only 48 years after I first played the album
  • Forget whatever lame reissues have come or will come down the pike - if you want to hear this album right, an Atco Yellow Label pressing is the only way to go (Ah, but which one?)

  • Stunning Shootout Winning Triple Plus (A+++) sound on both sides for the band's Magnum Opus, In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida
