Linda Ronstadt - Heart Like a Wheel

An Album We Are Clearly Obsessed With

HEART LIKE A WHEEL is an album we admit to being obsessed with -- just look at the number of commentaries we've written about it!

We love the album and we hope you do too. If you have some time on your hands -- maybe a bit too much time on your hands -- please feel free to check out our commentaries.

Product Detail

Years ago - 2008 maybe? - a good customer sent us this note to tell us how much he enjoyed his two (!) Hot Stamper pressings of Linda Ronstadt’s Heart Like A Wheel. Please note that one record was $75 and the other $85. Each had one excellent side; far from the best, (that would be our A Double Plus copy that went for $400) but quite respectable nonetheless. (The best side one earned an A+, the best side two earned an A-.)

In his opinion, and ours, even "Barely" Hot Stampers (that A Minus side two would not be called Hot at all) are still better than any 180 gram reissue!

Wow -- What a Difference!

Sometime ago I received a very decent copy of Heart Like a Wheel from Better Records, (in fact two copies each with different sounding sides)........then a while later up came a sealed Cisco 180g reissue, so I grabbed it thinking how nice it would be - a fresh copy, clean and quiet...........

The other night I played the Cisco, and sure it is quiet, and smooth, but it just seemed generally lacking somehow, so I put on one of the Better Records copies - wow what a difference! The old copy has tons of clarity, detail, life and punch - it thoroughly blew away the Cisco - perhaps no surprise to you, but it once again reinforces my belief in Better Records!

Best Regards,

Thanks for the note, Jason. I'm glad you can hear the difference! We obviously can, which is why we charge three times as much for our used "one sided" record as Cisco does for their brand spanking new 180 gram pressing with two supposedly good sides.

As we say in our review for the new one, the average copy is an unlistenable piece of crap, which makes the Cisco LP an easy choice for someone who wants an enjoyable, quiet pressing.

But don't kid yourself: the real thing is The Real Thing and just can't be beat -- if you can find one that's mastered and pressed right. Therein lies the rub. Most audiophiles have neither the time nor the inclination to go through scads of copies in the hopes of finding one worth keeping.

Which is where we come in. If you've got the dough, we can get you a Heart Like A Wheel that walks all over that heavy vinyl pressing, no ifs, ands or buts about it.

To paraphrase James Taylor: That's why we're here. Glad to see you appreciate The Real Sound of Real Music as much as we do!
